I remember the time when SEOs tried to use a great number of keywords in texts, but as results show – keyword stuffing is not effective and no longer works. If you are novice in SEO of course you will have a lot of questions. Today I am going to “reveal” LSI secrets.
LSI – Latent Semantic Indexing. Many think that LSI keywords are just semantically related words, the other words, like synonyms. But, there is a mistake. For me, LSI keywords – these are words in common which are semantically close in the content of any document/s BUT there are just few words in common which are semantically distant. Don't be afraid to use LSI because it allow to search engines to better specify what your documents (pages) talk about and in the result to rank it for appropriate keywords.
Initially, Latent Semantic Indexing was meant for successful integration of Google AdSense ads to appropriate topics web page. LSI algorithm is rather complicated, however, it is not necessary to understand hidden technology mechanisms to get benefits from it. For webmasters there is a golden rule: the more ways used to describe the same thing, the more weight the site gets in search engines, as an expert. Website authority is rewarded with less vibrations in search results and high ranking.
This “tool” is widely used not only among search engines but is valuable for Internet Marketing experts, Web Designers and Copywriters and SEOs. It is like mathematical analysis. For example, if a document contain the term “football”, semantically related words would be: field, ball, post, tickets, games etc.
Search engines like LSI. If you look for the term “football” search engines, especially Google will think which sites or documents are the most relevant for this query and display them in search results.
How to find LSI
Not long ago, SEOs actively used Google wonder Wheel, but everything changes and today we have another opportunities. You can find a lot of information but personally I some experts used the instructions below :
- At first, generate LSI keywords. If you've chosen a topic think about words related to it and than write down them (create a table). For example, if had a website about “vegetables” - there are considered LSI keywords: tomato, radish, onion etc.

Yeah, and the last thin. Remember about your main keywords. Being confused or interested in LSI you can make a BIG mistake. It's better to use main keywords in the firs and last paragraphs. Also in titles, H1 tags, description and without stuffing. Just 2-5 times.
