is simply amazing. This resource contains lots of functions, settings and extra features that can be used and mixed in different combinations. Even if you consider yourself a Gmail-expert, still there are many techniques that most likely you don't know. Here are top ten Gmail features.
1. Placing files in the folder "inbox" mail box for quick access to them
Now, most of us have an account on such a resource like Dropbox, designed for quick access to any files which are stored there. However, if you don't want to use Dropbox (or if you just want to always have in touch one or two files), you can just add these files to the “inbox” mail on Gmail and leave them there. Thus, only a few clicks, you can access these files, and you don't even need to open a new tab in your browser.
2. Tracking your IP-address
There are many services that require you to know IP-address of a home computer, for example, remote control of streaming audio etc. The problem is that IP may change from time to time, leaving you without connection. While you can always set up DynDNS or Hamachi in order to provide easy access and active accounts' checking in Gmail. If you have recently opened Gmail at home then it will show the last used IP-address of your home computer, so you can always connect to it.
3.Immediate remove formatting text
If you've ever copied and pasted text into Gmail, then you know how annoying preserve the original text formatting. If you want to change this huge, ill-chosen font, installed Gmail by default, you don't need to insert it through notepad – you can simply press the button “Remove Formatting” (yes, I did not know what does this button). Now, you can instantly remove all the text formatting of the email.
4. Contact list restoration
Gmail automatically creates a backup copy of your contact list, so you never lose your contacts even if you accidentally sync contacts with the old set or accidentally delete the entire address book, you can still recover your contact list exactly as it was before. Just install cursor on the top line of the contact list and click “More” and then click “Restore Contacts”.
5.Copy and paste images directly into messages
If you work a lot with pictures, you don't actually need to click each time the button “Insert Image”, when you need to insert an image into email. Firefox and Chrome allow you to simply drag and drop images directly into message. You can also copy and paste into the messages images from the Internet, which is especially convenient because you don't need at first upload the image to your desktop.
6. Sort your Gmail messages by size and delete large messages
If you have used dedicated space for your Gmail account, then you have the choice to buy extra lame or to see which of the emails and attachments can be removed. Script Google Docs – it's cool, it finds the largest mails and sorts them by size, so you can see which mails take place the most. This script does not “embedded” into Gmail but it's advisable not to close Google Apps or open these services to access your accounts to perform such work!
7.Setting up Gmail for iOs as it was intended
Some of you more experienced Gmail users, may already know this “trick”, it's strange, but there are enough people who continue to synchronize iPhone with computer connecting them with wires to get a list of contacts, while it's possible to synchronize all via wi-fi. To see how to set up Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Contacts for iOS it's necessary to read the relevant instructions and try to sync via wi-fi according to these instructions. After installation of the connection your contacts and calendars should be kept up to date and in sync, and you should be immediately notified via email. Of course, Android users don't need to worry about it – Android does it all by default.
8. Access to Gmail when mail is out of order
As a rule, Google doesn't allow failure, but every time it happens and Gmail is not available, all come into a state of panic. Fortunately, even when a failure occurs, there are many ways to still get mails and it's usually as simple as turn to view HTML code or via mail client such as Thunderbird. Refresh those skills and then will know what to do next time when Gmail decides to take a “day off.”
9. Set Gmail as mail client by default
More recently, to set Gmail as your default mail client, it was necessary to use special applications or other sophisticated methods but now this feature have Chrome and Firefox. As for Chrome, Gmail will automatically propose to use it by default, but even if you have clicked “no”, then at any time, you can click on the link chrome :/ / settings / handlers, and change your Gmail settings to use Gmail as an email by defaults. In Firefox, you can find similar setting Options> Applications. Note that, although they don't require any external applications, they will only work inside the browser, so if you click on the link in another application, it automatically takes you to Gmail, if you don't set something like Gmail Notifier from Google.
10. Adding the button “Repeat” for Gmail
This will require a little more work, but, again, you won't need to install any additional applications or to subscribe to additional services to make it work – just an ordinary Google Apps scenario. After installing it will seen the button “Repeat” e-mail for a certain number of days. After this period expire the message will again be marked as new, reminding that we must look through this post (similar to phone alarm).
