Back in March 2011 Denver SEO, Inc., was approached by Colorado Used Car Dealer, The Sharpest Rides to help out with their online viability through Google, Yahoo and Bing using our affordable yet powerful Search Engine Optimization services. Upon our initial website audit and analysis we noted that getting The Sharpest Rides to the 1st page in Google was going to be not such an easy task.
First we performed an in-depth keyword analysis to uncover the best keywords to attack. Once we found about 30 or so relevant high-traffic keywords we did an initial ranking report to see what our base line was and as we quickly discovered The Sharpest Rides was not ranked within the TOP 1000 results (yes 1000, not 100) in Google, Yahoo or Bing!
Typically when we nothing like this on an already established domain name the first thing that comes to mind was a penalty. Further analysis did not indicate a penalty but as you could imagine the thought of a penalty never left our mind until we saw something that was a bit more positive.
Upon completion of the initial keyword research we started to dig into the code audit. The website was created by Dealers Link () and really didn’t have anything in place to make a functional SEO campaign move. Before we were able to perform our on-pageSEO services we had to request quite a handful of technical advancements to the code to make the on-page process work. Dealers Link did not hesitate to make the appropriate changes quickly so we could move forward.
Once the technical changes were completed we made the first round of on-page SEO changes and then was able to get the website re-indexed. To our satisfaction The Sharpest Rides.com entered into #323 (page 33) in Google which was a positive sign. After this we went into to make yet several additional rounds of changes and during this watched The Sharpest Rides.com quickly advance to the 3rd page in Google for some of the most competitive key words we we’re attacking which gave us a general conscious that the technology and web platform being used was very much liked by Google.
The Sharpest Rides.com gets a lot of traffic and by a lot I mean well over 25K monthly visitors. By implementing this first phase SEO campaign we doubled their online traffic in only a few short months. That’s some serious ROI.
The Sharpest Rides.com stuck on page 3 for several weeks or so while we planned out our off-page strategy. We then launched an aggressive off-page strategy that consisted of a lot of link baiting and unique content creation from our SEO team. Within a month or so later The Sharpest Rides.com jumped to the 1st page in Google where they sat in position 9 for again 3 weeks to a month.
Today, The Sharpest Rides have climbed to #4 & #5 for the two most competitive keywords and are now on the 1st page for most of the additional or secondary tear keywords targeted.
